Spring 2021: Globalization Reconsidered
Perspectives on Ongoing Debates
The nuanced cultural, political and economic processes of interconnectedness and interaction that we understand as globalization have resulted from significant advances in communication technologies and transportation. Acknowledging the complexity of globalization, the Spring 2021 Exchange series seeks to reconsider its benefits and limitations in the context of the current pandemic, the greatest threat to global cooperation which our generation has faced.

We open the series by looking at the impacts of COVID-19 on various globalization processes. The sessions that follow reconsider globalization in terms of communal approaches to health, mindfulness and wellbeing and its role in promoting and upholding basic human rights, including equality in education and racial identity. We pair these topics with a re-examination of the roles of leadership, technological advances, and personal and communal happiness to promote a vibrant global culture that builds on and preserves local cultural heritage.
